British Cuisine

In 2023, don’t you still think British food is just fish and chips?

If someone asks what are the famous dishes in Britain? Most of you said fish and chips! Any baby who has spent some time in the UK knows that British cuisine is a different place in terms of the richness of its ingredients and its cooking skills. But the British authentic traditional food is also a lot, today let’s take stock of you, see what you have eaten?

1. Bangers and Mash

Sausage with mashed potatoes, the taste is still good, usually with onion gravy to eat together, sometimes will add peas, is a very common dish in the British Pub, it is easy to do at home, supermarkets also have to sell that kind of done, directly put in the microwave oven to heat it can eat.

2. Beef Wellington

Beef Wellington (steak), a delicate and controlled dish made with foie gras or duck liver spread on top of the whole beef and baked in a puff pastry, is a regular feature on many high-end restaurant menus and is not cheap either.

3. Cottage Pie

Cottage Pie, also known as Shepherd’s Pie, is a popular British dish that is cooked with a thick layer of mashed potato on top of a meat filling, either beef or lamb, which is delicious fresh from the pan.

4. Full English Breakfast

The English breakfast is one of the few things in British food that you miss when you skip it after a while.

First of all, it’s rich in ingredients, such as sausage, bacon, eggs, baked beans with tomatoes, baked hash browns, toast, Black Pudding (unusual, not pudding, but black pudding), sliced mushrooms and tomatoes. It’s delicious, but it’s also high in calories, almost a thousand calories for a single meal.

5. Fish & Chips

Fish and chips is a veritable national dish. Personally, it is delicious, but the fish must be fresh (usually cod), but fried food is easy to anger oh.

6. Pasty

Most mince pies sold in the UK are now associated with Cornwall and are becoming a local speciality. The filling in Pasty is made of beef, onion, potato, cabbage and so on. Pastie is American. Pastry is all about pastry.

7. Pie and Mash

Pie and Mash, a traditional working-class London dish, is not available in many places. The green sauce in the picture is called “Liquor”, not wine! It’s a parsley sauce, thin, which is traditionally lied in conjunction with another dark cuisine, Jellied Eel.

8. Steak and Kidney Pudding

Steak and Kidney Pudding, which literally translates to “steak and kidney pudding,” is another dark dish with a cute name! For some reason, the people of Britain like to call some dark dishes “Pudding”… Steak and Kidney Pudding is also a popular dish in British pubs.

9, Sunday Roast

Sunday Roast is literally translated as Sunday roast. It came about because people used to go to church on Sunday, roast meat in the oven before going to church, and then come home and eat it hot and delicious.

It is still served every Sunday in most English pubs and restaurants. A traditional Sunday Roast is made up of Roast Beef, Yorkshire Pudding (which is similar to churros in taste and texture), potatoes, vegetables and gravy.

10. Toad in the Hole

Toad in the Hole, which translates to “Toad in the hole” in Chinese. A sausage roast on a crust from Yorkshire Pudding. What a dark dish with such an unappetising name for an already bizarre looking dish!

At this point, you might ask, “Is there a stargazing pie that’s gone global?” Well… This dish, which has been topping the list of dark British dishes ever since it went viral on the Internet, is actually not served in any restaurants in London.

In fact, the dish was served to celebrate Tom Bawcock’s Eve in Mousehole, a harbour village near Cornwall, so it is not a traditional British dish.
